Agency of Agriculture and Rural Development actively participated in Agricultural Policy Forum, which was held in Ohrid, North Macedonia, on 9 and 10 October. This year’s “Agricultural Policy Forum (APF) 2019” focused on “Contribution of Diversification of Economic Activities to Sustainable Rural Development in Southeast Europe”, co-operation as a broad regional platform for interaction and recommendations on regional policy issues in agriculture and rural development in Southeast Europe. Agricultural Policy Forum is organized by the Permanent Regional Rural Development Group, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy of Northern Macedonia.
Of particular interest to ARDA were the achievements and impact of the IPARD program in Western Balkans on role of Rural Tourism and diversification of economic activities in rural areas. Participants further highlighted the potential of these regions for the development of a local, community-led economy and the development of research capacities for sustainable agricultural and rural development in the western region.
