Background

Agency of Agriculture and Rural Development, was established on 30.12.2008 based on D.C.M. No. 1443 “On the establishment, organization and functioning of the Agency of Agriculture and Rural Development (ARDA), in the Guideline no. 3, date 30.12.2008 of the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection.

This institution strictly carries out the following-up and the implementation of the Law on Agriculture No. 9817, date 22.10.2007, of the respective DCMs “On the determination of the basic criteria for the sectors to be supported and the measures to benefit from the fund program of agriculture and rural development “, as well as” On the management of the support fund for agriculture”, defined by relevant guidelines.

IPARD

The European Union opened the Program of Agriculture and Rural Development, IPARD II for Albania, a fund co-funded by the EU and the Albanian Government, worth 94 million euros.

The program aims to support farmers, economic-agricultural entrepreneurs, including the UFA, natural and legal persons, micro-enterprises and small private non-agricultural enterprises that make investments in the production and processing of dairy, meat, vegetables, herbs and vineyards.

The calls are open to all persons (natural and legal persons), with the criteria that their work and activity is carried out within the territory of the Republic of Albania in the fields of agriculture/ or agro-processing and rural development with the focus on the following measures:

Measure

“Investments in physical assets of agricultural holdings” with a particular focus on the following sectors:

Milk; Meat;Fruit;Vegetable; Vineyard

“Investments in the processing and marketing of agricultural products” with a particular focus on the following sectors:

Milk and milk processing; Meat processing; Processing of fruits and vegetables; Wine

“Farm diversification and business development” with a particular focus on the following sectors:

Production of medicinal herbs, mushrooms, honey, ornamental plants and snails; Processing and marketing of wild and cultivated medicinal and aromatic herbs, fungi and honey; Processing at farm level and trading of agricultural products; Aquaculture; Nature and Rural Tourism; Services for the population and rural businesses; Handicrafts industry and production facilities; Production and use of renewable energy.
